Living with a host family will give you a deep understanding of Mexican culture as you improve your Spanish skills. Study alongside local students at one of the most prestigious Universities in Mexico. During your time in Guanajuato you will also have the opportunity to experience and travel in some of Mexico´s different States to broaden your understanding of the culture.

THE PROGRAM FEE INCLUDES:

Our host families go through a careful screening process to make sure they have met all the conditions required and are eager to host you. Our host families are located in different points of the city but all of them are within a range of 10-15 minutes walking distance (or an 8 minute bus ride) from downtown Guanajuato.

School description

Culture and Language Abroad is a uniquely immersive study program based in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Guanajuato, Mexico. Unlike less personal exchange programs, we focus on designing individual curriculum experiences that are authentic to both student’s needs and local culture. CLA is a non-profit founded and operated by a dedicated team of international educators – who also happen to be Guanajuato natives – whose university and community networks assure that program participants will study and live like a true local.

The CLA study center is located right in the historic center of Guanajuato, next to us we have the magnificent Teatro Juarez and also the Jardin Union. The study center counts with wifi, study area and a lovely terrace which you can use during class or office hours.

Señora Ceci is one of CLA absolute favorites. She is always full of different activities and loves to talk. She is learning how to play the guitar and take painting classes. She has five grown up children, and some of them live in the city of Guanajuato.
Señora Ceci has received CLA students for many years and all of them still stay in touch with her. During their stay in her house she treated them like one more member of the family inviting them to family events and cooking delicious Mexican dishes for them! Her apartment is super pretty decorated in Mexican style and very well located only minutes away from down town.

Mi casa es su casa", is a very popular Mexican saying that means “My home is your home". There is really no better way to immerse oneself in a culture than living with a host family. Your Mexican host family will go out of their way to help you and teach you all there is to know about Mexican culture.

visa

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $30 when you register.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Guanajuato based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Travel insurance

Study abroad worry-free with Language International's health and personal effects insurance coverage. When you book a course with us, you can opt to purchase an international insurance plan that covers not only your health care cost but also loss of your personal belongings.
