Course description

The course is geared towards students with an intermediate (B1) level or higher who are eager to extend their knowledge on the historical and cultural aspects of Spain. It is taught by native Spanish-speaking professors with backgrounds in history, art and literature. All classes are held entirely in Spanish.

The course is divided into two sections:

Language and Communication
Spanish Culture and Civilization – In the Spanish Culture and Civilization Module, students study the following:
Spanish Golden Age Literature
Multiculturalism in Spain
Contemporary Spain
Spanish Artistic Manifestations in Context
Panorama of Spain within the Context of the European Union

The Spanish History, Art or Literature course will uncover the reality of present-day Spanish society by focusing on a series of important historical, artistic or literary figures of the past. The thoroughness of these units will reinforce the students' Spanish skills by enhancing listening comprehension and vocabulary.

Our carefully selected host families will welcome you straight away and treat you like an additional member of the family. This way you will feel right at home. Host families also provide the perfect opportunity to practice what has been learnt in the classroom. Speak to your host family and learn first hand about the Spanish way of life and their customs.

Living with a host family makes your stay that bit easier because you don't have to worry about cooking or laundry. All linen and towels are included. Our families are happy to help you out and you can ask them about the best places to go in the area and other questions.

You can choose between two options for the host family stay:

Half board, including two meals: breakfast and dinner.
Full board, including three meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Meals will be eaten with the family.

The families can adapt their cooking to your particular needs or special diet if you inform us in advance

Our families all live close to the school and you can get there either by foot or in no less than 30 minutes to city centre

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

Your letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.

Flights and airport transfer

Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to Murcia based on your budget, schedule and preferences.

Travel insurance

Study abroad worry-free with Language International's health and personal effects insurance coverage. When you book a course with us, you can opt to purchase an international insurance plan that covers not only your health care cost but also loss of your personal belongings. You must book your insurance in advance when you register.
