Course description

The Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) –Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign
Language- is the official certificate that accredits an individual’s degree of competence and
command of the Spanish Language. It is awarded by Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish
Ministry of Education.
The DELE Diplomas are the only certificates from the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of
Spain with an international scope and they are recognized all over the world by private businesses,
chambers of commerce and public and private educational systems.

Diploma de Español A1 Level: it accredits sufficient linguistic ability to understand and use everyday
expressions such as those frequently used in every part of the Spanish-speaking world. It is aimed at satisfying immediate communicative needs.

Diploma de Español A2 Level: it accredits that the exam candidate can understand frequently used, everyday sentences and expressions related to areas of experience which are particularly relevant to oneself (basic information about oneself and his/her family, shopping, places of interest, occupation, etc.).

Diploma de Español B1 Level (Initial): it accredits sufficient linguistic ability to understand and react appropriately to the most common situations of everyday life and to communicate needs and wishes in a basic manner.

Diploma de Español B2 Level (Intermediate): it accredits sufficient linguistic ability to manage usual everyday situations under normal circumstances which do not require a specialised use of the language.

Diploma de Español C1 Level: it accredits sufficient linguistic ability to express oneself clearly and without having to limit what the speaker wants to say. The exam candidate has a good command of a wide vocabulary, including phrases and colloquial expressions.

The examination dates are each year in May, August and November and students can register at the Instituto de Idiomas Ibiza to sit the examination in any major city in Spain or at Instituto Cervantes in their home country. Exam fees are not included in the price.

"Teaching very good, supervision in the 50+ program not satisfactory, accommodation poor."

Sibylle Kreutner-Albrecht, student from Germany

The school program was very good, unfortunately it was not up to my standard. I started again at absolutely zero. We were only 3 students and progressed somewhat faster. In the second week came again beginners. Although the same program was offered the second week, but because I was the only one of the first week, I would have to repeat a lot of grammar and verbs again. The announced 2nd book in the second week was only based on my demand on the last day in the last hour.

The announced events took part only partly, some were canceled because of the season. The 50+ course consisted of 3 people, who had different levels. Unfortunately, we also had different accommodations so that you could also sit evenings alone without spending money.

The accommodation was 7 min walk from the school. The room was small and scarcely furnished. It reminded me more of a youth hostel. The window pointed to a dirty courtyard, but was relatively quiet. The bed was so low that I had problems every morning to get out of bed. The bathroom was tiny, a window opened straight into a dark bay. The fittings were rusted and moldy. The kitchen was a large room with a well equipped kitchen. The TV was unfortunately broken, a living room did not exist. The room was cleaned once.

"Perfect! couldn't asked for more"

Claudia Schindele, student from Germany

Everybody was very friendly and helped solve problems quickly. I felt very welcome! The private lessons were really amazing, my teacher prepared my classes for the whole week with the things I need to know and I asked her for specifics specially for my job. Absolutely well prepared for my subject! I was very surprised how she prepared and helped me!

"Lovely teachers, professional and efficient"

Aleksandria Migova

I really enjoyed these 2 weeks of studying. It was very fun and it helped me to progress in Spanish. Facilities are clean and comfortable. Location is more than perfect as it was two minutes from the bus station. Only one thing that I didn't like was when some of the teachers smelled like cigarettes while giving a class. I don't have anything against smokers; let them smoke if they want, but in a class, students shouldn't experience any annoying smells especially from the personnel.

Thanks and warm regards!

"A great combination of learning and relaxing"

Tania De Metsenaere, student from Belgium

I was only there for one week. My teachers were Anna and Maria. They made a great team, each with their own specialties.

Today, I contacted an evening school about a course in Spanish. The course I did in Ibiza was a great motivator!

The Instituto de Idiomas Ibiza selects host families carefully and inspects them regularly. This accommodation type allows you a detailed insight into Spanish life style. Here you will experience directly how the Spaniards organize their daily lives.

The majority of our host families are within a 5-20 minutes walking distance from the school. Host
families may be found in many different constellations: families with father, mother and
child, single mothers with children, couples without children, etc.. Therefore, it may be that this accommodation is a single household. The experience of the Spanish lifestyle remains the same.

Unless agreed differently, you will get a single room including breakfast. Linen will
be provided to you and you can use the washing machine 1 x per week. A private
bathroom and ironing service is usually not available, but maybe it can be agreed
with the family. Talking to the family is exactly what makes the homestay experience
particularly valuable!

Host families are suitable for those who are open to other cultures and are willing to
learn about a different way of life. In Ibiza Town as well as in San Antonio the most typical
way of living is in an apartment block.
