The three-week film elective gives students the unique opportunity to discover the fascinating world of film- making and to let their imaginations run free.
The course provides a practical introduction to all aspects of film craft through a combination of interactive seminars, technical training and hands-on experience behind the camera. Armed with this knowledge and expert tuition from professionals in the film industry students will then create their very own short films to be screened in front of the entire Summer School.

Throughout this course, students of all ability levels will benefit from expert tuition on script writing, directing, production management, cinematography and editing, right through to location scouting and set design.
Each student will receive instruction in the use of industry standard cameras and editing software. Working in small teams, students will then learn to work within a production crew taking turns to direct, produce and create their own unique films.
This elective has been designed to give students a practical introduction to film-making, while at the same time, helping them to appreciate the rewards of teamwork and the satisfaction of putting their own ideas into action. Students will not only create their own unique films, they will also gain the confidence to express and discuss their ideas, learn what it takes to put their ideas into action and discover the rewards of seeing their ideas come to life on the big screen.

The exclusive ISSOS summer school program offers high school students from over 80 nationalities (aged 13-18) the opportunity to combine learning and action-packed adventure in one of three amazing, historic and picturesque university towns of St Andrews, Cambridge, and Yale. Our three-week program welcomes students from all over the world, mixing native and non-native English speakers and limits the number of students from one nationality to 10% in order to guarantee a truly international experience. All staff who teach at ISSOS are professionals in their field and come from the top universities and organisations in the world.
The nationality and age mix at ISSOS International Summer Schools varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 16. In the summer, the average age is 16.
ISSOS does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.
Our summer program at the prestigious Yale University is located in New Haven, Connecticut. The campus is set on 265 acres and provides many amenities for students during their stay. More importantly, Yale provides a safe campus where students can enjoy a certain amount of freedom and experience everything it has to offer. Yale's University campus provides students with the opportunity to explore the many University buildings, shop in the small university town that plays host to some well-known brands as well as other boutique shops, and enjoy the variety of cafes and restaurants.
ISSOS International Summer Schools are amazing. The staff are incredibly welcoming. The teachers are engaging and encouraging and their classes are interesting and dynamic. The accommodation is safe and comfortable. The location was wonderful and there is the opportunity to go on fun and interesting trips. We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. The school is also not authorized to issue an I-20 to support an F-1 student visa application. If you need a visa, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.
