Course description

Students follow a course-book based programme in classes at an appropriate English language level. Your lessons will focus on the development of your general English language level. You will follow a course book, focusing on a different topic each week.

This course runs in the morning, leaving you enough time to explore the city of Bath, relax or study.

Languages United is a British Council-accredited, family-run English language school in the heart of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage city. We are proud members of Quality English, English UK, English UK South West, English UK Young Learners, and BETA. Our welcoming and inclusive school offers a personalised learning experience, with small class sizes and expert teaching. We offer courses for all levels, adults and juniors, groups and individuals.

Our school is based in a beautiful Georgian building in Bath's city centre, minutes' walk from shops, cafés, restaurants and historical and cultural attractions.

Our facilities include student WiFi, a student break room with small library, board games, games console and musical instruments, an administration and welfare office with team always available to help, five classrooms, and a prayer room on request.

Staying in a homestay accommodation is a great way to practice and improve your English as well as make new friends and meet new people. You will be treated as a member of the household, eating together and sharing common living areas.

With around 200 homestay hosts, this is the most popular option for many of our students.
Students will normally travel to and from their homestay accommodation using public transport (local buses), unless the house is within walking distance. The majority of host families are within 30 minutes travel of the school. Please note that bus passes are not included within your course unless it is part of a package (e.g. Junior Summer School).

The following will be provided for all students:
- A clean tidy room with a desk or table (or a room providing same), adequate storage for clothes and a comfortable bed with a change of bed linen ever 2 weeks.
- The host takes care of the student's light laundry once per week, or the student should have reasonable access to the washing machine.
- Facility to have a shower every day with adequate hot water and towels available.
- Sufficient light and heat.

All our homestay accommodation is organised by our own Accommodation Team. Homestays are regularly inspected by our team and have specific criteria that they must satisfy.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
