Our General English course is designed to improve all areas of your English, increasing your vocabulary, enhancing your grammar, boosting your written work and strengthening your reading skills. We encourage individual learning and independence through working alone, in pairs and in groups. We often use authentic written texts and listening material from newspapers and magazines, television and video, the Internet and other sources as well as using a variety of teaching methodologies that aim to develop both fluency and accuracy in the language.
We use up-to-date textbooks and teaching methods, as part of a syllabus that is regularly revised to keep our lessons as fresh and modern as possible. The school was the best unit the last week, a teacher came and he doesn't look like he wants to teach.
The homestay was good but it was far from the school.
It was a good experience, I hope to do it again
it was great experience for me communicating with many nationalities using English language.
i like :
My teacher
activities in class and outside class was good but need more improvement.
location is great .
dislike or need improvement :
classes was very small to occupy the students
facilities : should be cafeteria or place selling snacks - toilette not enough.
HOUSING :
I received the family address and information on the same day of arrival.
The host family was great but the school didn't tell me they were hosting 7 student in one house - i knew that in the 4th day.
I was late everyday trying to use toilette - sometimes i didn't find a chair on the breakfast.
I've really enjoyed my experience in Brighton and it has been very useful for me. I think in just 5 week I had improved my English and I can recommend the school and Terry's house to everybody.
In Terry's house I felt like home. She and her son Mat (who was living with us) were kind and respectful people. With regards the school, the location is perfect, so close to the centre and you can find all the facilities you need around the area. I went to the school everyday on foot from my house so it was really comfortable. The teachers there were amazing, they were really open minded and relaxed people and you can really feel that they like what are they doing.
Definitely the experience has been exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Classes: I attended the CAE exam class. We had a good team spirit and the students were welcoming, nice and motivated. The size of the class changed between 7-12 students. The fluctuation of the class was high. This fact makes it not easy for the students and teachers to prepare step-by-step.
Teacher: The whole staff of the school is wonderful, helpful, very friendly and with good spirits. My teacher was motivated and motivating, was very nice and had good expertise in teaching. We must speak English in class and she required to let the students speak as much as possible. The atmosphere was relaxed but studious. She was well prepared. The Facebook group of the CAE class provided the weekly plan, newspaper article or video clips of interest.
Location: Nicely located, central and close to the seafront. The school itself is quite small.
Facilities: They were okay but this issue is maybe the greatest disadvantage of the school. The classrooms were small and okay for a max of 12 students. During the breaktime there was always a big queue for the toilet and the student room was more a meeting room for students to have a chat or eat something. There was not a quiet place to study at the school.
Activities: The social program was fantastic, with a wide range of different activities and a great opportunity to meet students and make new friends.
Housing: I stayed in a host family in Hove. They were friendly, but despite this, I would not recommend this kind of housing, because it seems that for many families it is just a business and it is not worth the money you pay. It in fact makes you less independent. My family watched a lot of telly, which is why we didn’t really have talks and we did no activities at all together; they just provided food, but I never could take part in the family. There are good student houses in Brighton, or for longterm students, the option to rend a flat with mates.
I've had a very valuable experience at ISIS Brighton. The classes are nice - most times I didn't notice that I was having class. In addition, the teachers were great! It's very well-located, just in the middle of Brighton; you can walk easily to most of places from the school. On the other hand, my host family was very kind to me in my three weeks there.
Only thing I didn't like was the high prices of transport and even food at the supermarket. You have to keep your eyes peeled!
Thank you for everything. The teachers are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
I liked everything there in your school.
If it possible, I would continue my course.
Firstly Brighton is a different and incredible city, with amazing people and places to go. ISIS school is also great! Everybody is always trying to make you feel at home with your family. And this is very important when you're studying abroad alone. My teachers were very attentive and wonderful educators. My host family was just the funniest family ever and they were very kind with me as well. Now you can see I had a perfect experience!
