"I feel like I have learnt a lot and I enjoyed my second time at Humboldt."

Barbara Nikulina, student from UK

My visit which was already my second, was equally as good as the first. I have learnt a lot of new things for myself, but despite that I had a lot of fun with my friends too. In terms of my teacher and classes, I can say that I have really enjoyed that as well. My teacher was amazing, very nice and extremely helpful. The school isn’t located in a very big city however, we went on trips during the week and on the weekend, and the activities provided there allowed people to not stay bored. Overall I liked everything and enjoyed my stay. Thank you!

"I practiced a lot of German."

Jean Pellet, student from France

The teachers and facility were all nice. The problem was that I was bored during most of my lessons. I have been learning German in school for 4 years now and they put me in a class for complete beginners because they said I didn't do well on my placement test. I agree that I never mastered all the grammar in school that I should have but it was very boring spending 2 weeks reviewing all the very basics again.

"It was a challenging but very rewarding experience and I had so much fun meeting new people and learning about the German language and culture."

Sophie Manning, student from Ireland

The classes were not too long and we had frequent breaks for free time. I had different teachers for each week, which were both very good although they had very different teaching methods which proved to be a challenge. Also, as they did not know what we had been taught the previous week, there was some repetition. But overall the classes were a full immersion in the language and were very helpful. The location was good, removed enough from the noise of a city but we still had to opportunity to go into the town and experience the culture. The facilities were very good, the classrooms and free time areas were clean and modern and we were able to go on walks on the nearby trails which was nice. The rooms we stayed in were very clean and everything worked properly. I had no problems with the housing. The activities were sometimes repetitive or a little childish, but were overall very good.

"It was beautiful"

Marta Spiller, student from Switzerland

For my experience at Humboldt Institut was good.I liked the classes and the teachers that I had.The thing I did not like very well were the locations where I had my lessons because they were very old.
During my stay I did a lot of activities: they were so funny, but they were repetitive.

Residence

Our students stay on campus in the residences of our school in Lindenberg. Most of the rooms are double rooms, but there are also few rooms with one, three or four beds. All rooms have a very nice view, either of the Alps or the forest. The rooms all enjoy the same high quality of furniture, which is modern, practical and at the same time friendly (wood) and functional.

Roommates

Even though some rooms still share facilities, many of the rooms have their own shower and bathroom. We make sure that students are separated in the residence by age (juniors 10-14 years of age and teenagers 14-17 years of age) as well as by gender. We also always try to place people of the same German language level, yet of different mother tongues together in a room, so that they will be encouraged to practice their German with each other.

Food and Laundry

We provide full board for our students, which includes three main meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Additionally, fruits are available any time. Laundry service is offered to our students free of charge once a week.

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
