"Very pleasant and positive experience"

Diégo AGUEROS, student from France

It's been all right. The agency that organized my stay in Bologna, the school and the teachers and the family where I stayed. At school everything was very well organized, very punctual and friendly. Very good level of teaching from the teachers, very pedagogical and friendly.

"Great Teachers"

Michael Alexiou, student from USA

I loved my classmates, I really liked my teachers. The housing was great, but I did have a problem with the host family. Activities were difficult; they were beyond my language level. I also feel that I was placed into a class a bit more difficult for me than those students around me. That being said, my teachers were very patient and good.

"A great way to improve your Italian"

Caroline Turnbull, student from UK

The school is ideally located in the old town, within easy walking distance of the main sights. The teachers were great - Francesca taught us grammar and Christiana did conversation. We spoke Italian the whole time. Francesca accompanied us on the excursions and is a walking encyclopedia! We had a cookery lesson, which was great fun, and a wine tasting which was very interesting as we learned how to taste wine properly.

Although I signed up for the "Master class", there was a mixture of ages in the class and the lessons were not really tailored to the older age group. The grammar was too easy for me - it was level B1 and I am taking a class at level B2 in the UK. However, I felt that my spoken Italian improved a lot and I now feel more confident about speaking.

"It was mind-opening and life-changing."

Aude Bex, student from Belgium

It was really well organized and there were a lot of activities 4 meeting the other people !
The classes were especially efficient as the groups were small and the teachers were always helping us to improve.
Moreover, living in the bilbo apartment was great and it was really fun to be with our classmates after the lessons.
Thank you for this experience. Aude

"Educational"

Thais Vianna, student from Brazil

The school is very well located in Bologna, near the town center and more importantly near the school apartments. The school has a very able body of teachers, each of them had very good teaching methods and a lot of patience with the studies, i can sure say that I've learned a lot. it was also very interesting that the school offered some extra courses, helped a lot with the learning experience. The organization on itself was a little not organized and we experienced some difficulties in the apartments, (such as broken over or toilets) which were solved but with delay. But overall it was a great experience and i would definitely recommend.

"Negative"

Ekaterina Vashchenkova, student from Russia

I took a course at this school, but at the end of the course I have not been given a certificate for three weeks already, which I really need. I went to school - they said they would send it to the post office - they did not send it. I wrote it myself - except for promises nothing was received. One negative. Indifference from the school. Money received - the rest is not important. Very disappointing. I do not advise you to contact this institution.

I'm afraid to read your commnt, which honestly doesn't correspond to reality
We issue a certificate of attendance to ALL students enrolled in our school
When you finished the course you were in a hurry and the administrative staff just told you that it would have taken a little bit (half an hour) to get it
Not only; we issue a personalized and detailed report filled by our teachers which contains rating and opinion on every educational field
Feel free to come at school to get it

"It was a good experience"

I am so busy right now. Everything was good: teachers, location, facilities and housing.

The location of the school and housing is excellent.

I can recommend to everyone.

"A.L.C.E. is super to learn the Italian language."

Zenro Nihei, student from Japan

The teachers were very friendly and enthusiastic. In the afternoon, the additional courses were open and some activities were provided. I enjoyed the course, as well as the city tour with one of the teachers and some friends.

A.L.C.E. is not located in the center of the town, but is not in an inconvenient place. There are a lot of bars near the school, so I was able to spend a nice time having breakfast before the class, though the entrance was not open early in the morning.

"A beautiful experience"

Huguette HEINIS, student from France

For a first time experience, I was very pleased with the welcoming and availability of the entire team. The atmosphere was friendly, and the teachers were competent and attentive to the difficulties encountered by pupils. I stayed for 2 weeks, but I have gained fluency of the language and have progressed in the lexical field. We worked almost without realizing it. Congratulations to the entire team.

Although I was much older than the average student, I always felt at ease and perfectly integrated. Bologna is a lovely city. The school offered a cooking activity. They were very friendly as were the tours.

I was hosted at the Frodo House which was located close to the school and well-served by public transport.

I would recommend this school for sure.

Huguette

"For me, this was a very good total immersion program and A.L.C.E. was extremely supportive and accommodating."

Eugene Creany, student from USA

The level of course work was very demanding and I had to work very hard every day and night. I probably could have started at a lower level but the course I was in pushed me to catch up. I signed up for an optional one-to-one tutoring to assist me in keeping up. The instructors were excellent, and the variation of courses through the day and through the two weeks were well balanced. I opted for in-home housing and it was really great in terms of proximity to the school, and the woman who housed me was very kind and helpful in both advice on Bologna and in coaching me on some points of the language. I am very satisfied with the A.L.C.E. experience.

Ask a question

"Do you offer housing options that can be booked by 1 person? All the housing options that you have listed on our site can only be booked by at least 2 or 3 students studying together. I am looking for a single room in a homestay ideally."

Dyan Test, student from USA
hanan hamed, Italian School Pistoia school representative

At the moment we do not have any elementary course running in april. It is certainly possible for a single student to book a room in a B&B in town, walking distance from the school prices are still valid.
In case I receive a request from this person I'll let you know

Was this helpful? Yes

"The student said that his first contact at the school indicated that because he is an advanced beginner (which would be elementary), not quite at the intermediate level, he could start the two week intensive program any Monday. I don't see this two week intensive program on the Pistoia school profile in our system. If it does exist, could you please add this as well to your school profile so students will be able to have this option when searching our website. The student is also confused as to why the next elementary course is June 3rd when it says on the school website that the standard course starts every first and third Monday of the month. He will be coming to Pistoia in April."

Dyan Test, student from USA
hanan hamed, Italian School Pistoia school representative

The standard course lasts two weeks, twenty lessons per week as stated in
our brochure which the student can download on our website.
Courses start only with a minimum of 4 students, which is the case for the
course starting on the 3rd June, therefore I would be able to confirm
enrollment for that course even now. On the contrary at the moment we do
not have a course at elementary level starting in April.

Intensive courses begin at precise dates and last one week, 26 hours.

Our standard course is meant for level A2, according to the European
Framework of Reference for Language.
