My experience at Step Beyond Borders has been extremely positive. My teacher, Eva was excellent, moving at just the right pace for me, including pushing me gently when appropriate. I am surprised at how much I have been able to learn in just 2 weeks. While I am by no means fluent in Hindi, I now understand the basics of the language and it’s very complicated alphabet and mantras, so I have the building blocks to continue to learn on my own.
Having lessons in Eva’s home added an extra positive dimension as I was able to observe and learn about family life in India and we discussed aspects of cultural similarities and differences.
Hasmik, the school’s founder and Director creates a lovely welcoming environment, arranging meals out for participants to meet and get to know each other and a range of cultural events twice a week to help participants get under the skin of life in India. She is always available and responds quickly to queries and difficulties. I feel particularly privileged to have been invited by Hasmik to attend and witness a family religious ceremony, this is typical of Hasmik’s warmth and desire to help her students understand Indian culture.
I did not use the accommodation or Homestay options so can’t comment on them.
I would really recommend Step Beyond Borders for anyone interested in learning Hindi and more about India.
My teacher asked me to write a review of the classes we have and I am more than delighted to share my experience. I am still in my course as I joined it some days ago. I am learning Hindi with an Indian teacher who is a very energetic and enthusiastic professional, I see she loves Hindi so much :D Classes are a bit overloaded for me as Hindi is not easy at all but I enjoy every new word I learn and practice with local people. I am still on basic level but I do hope in a month to get to intermediate! Atmosphere with the people working is cool and everyone is engaging, we do activities together and even managed to watch a Bollywood movie out of which I understood half only! Overall great experience to have so I recommend it.

Teacher is very polite and patients especially in my case that I ask too many question. Her skills very so good I am happy I chose this option. She also arranged activities for me to improve my listening skills as that's why I went for this classes, to get better understanding of English accent in India! In short I loved it and I am sure these classes will be perfect for any level students: beginner to more better.
