Course description

If you need to pass IELTS (The International English Language Testing System) to progress in your studies or work, Anglolang’s IELTS preparation course will maximise your chance of succeeding in the exam.

The morning lessons, which are mixed with Intensive English students, focus on increasing confidence when communicating in English, improving fluency and developing English skills, vocabulary and grammar for the IELTS examination. All morning lessons are topic-based and relevant IELTS topics are chosen in consultation with the students in the class as part of Anglolang’s ‘negotiated syllabus’. The topic-based classes are taught using interactive whiteboards, up-to-date authentic resources from the Internet, such as You Tube videos, as well as digital English language course books.

During the afternoon lessons with examination students only, examination questions are practised along with techniques and strategies for succeeding in the IELTS test. Please note that the afternoon lesson may sometimes be scheduled to start later and therefore we cannot guarantee that the afternoon class will finish at 15.00.

IELTS homework is given regularly, with particular emphasis on reading and writing outside the classroom. Feedback, correction and advice is given. Mock examinations are also done regularly.

"Good and knowledgeable teachers."

Stefan Sjöstrand, student from Sweden

I actually thought everything was fine. The hotel was reasonably large/small with well-cooked traditional English food.

Staying in an English home is the best way to practise English and experience the British way of life, sharing the social life of the family, such as mealtimes and conversations. Hosts help our students to feel at home in their new surroundings by providing a genuine warm welcome and comfortable environment. Homestay accommodation also offers good value for money as breakfast, packed lunch and evening meals are provided every day.

All our homestay accommodation is close to our school – often just a short walk, and never more than a 20-minute journey on foot.

We take great care in selecting our homestay accommodation. We visit each host before using them, and continue to visit regularly. Being in constant touch with our hosts means that we get to know them very well and that also helps us to match students with hosts.

If you choose homestay accommodation, you can expect:

- a carefully chosen home to match your needs
- to be treated as a member of the home during your stay
- a single room if you are 18 or over (unless otherwise requested) furnished with a bed, storage, bed linen and towels
- your host to do a reasonable amount of laundry for you each week
- no two students with the same nationality in the same family (unless otherwise requested)
- full board (breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal)
- a key to the house (if you are over 18 years old)
- the opportunity to learn more of the British way of life
- a chance to practise English in social situations
visa

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from Anglolang. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged £ 50 when you register.
