Mississauga is home to Toronto Pearson International airport, Canada’s largest and most convenient airport. In some cases, this may mean only one flight into Canada for students. Mississauga is a short drive to many famous Canadian attractions in the Greater-Toronto and surrounding areas including Niagara Falls, CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, Canada’s Wonderland, and much more. In Mississauga, students can enjoy the city’s many attractions and activities.
Heartland English is located near Mississauga’s vibrant downtown area, where you will find the award-winning outdoor Mississauga Celebration Square (also known as festival central), the Living Arts Centre (the premier hub for arts, culture and performance in Mississauga), the Art Gallery, and Square One (Ontario’s largest shopping mall and second largest in Canada).
I really liked where I lived in Mississauga (Square One area) and everything was at walking distance! The bus rude to school was not even 10 minutes long, which is very nice! The school is next to a few stores, including Tim Hortons, which was nice in the morning! There’s also a GO Station very close to Heartland International School!
I was in Level 5, so we were only a few people but it was very good to have talks with people who had the same interest as me in learning English! Teachers, native speakers, are very good at explaining everything, and I would especially like to thank Ian for his classes that I really liked! I only had the Semi Intensive Program (9am-12pm) so I had loads of time to explore Mississauga! If you have difficulties in English, I’d suggest you choose the intensive program! On Friday afternoon, there was an activity organized (even semi intensive program students could go), like watching something, playing board games, soccer… I stayed four weeks, and as someone who already speak good English, it was maybe a bit long!
Thanks a lot to Heartland!
Ayla
Hi I am Anna,
I am Italian and I arrived here in Canada almost three weeks ago. I immediately started to follow the lessons in Heartland and I couldn't choose a better option!
Both students and teachers are kind and always willing to help you for any necessity. Since the first day here, I realized that sharing my own culture with others and listening to theirs has been really fascinating. I didn't know so much about South America but my classmates and friends gave me the possibility to learn a little more about it. The entire environment in Heartland makes you feel calm, relaxed and it gives you the chance to improve your English without making you feel judged by anyone.
During the first week here in Mississauga I noticed all the differences between here and Italy. First of all the streets and houses but also the attitude and behavior of people. There is a high level of organization and respect and these are absolutely the best characteristics of this city. In addition there are a lot of different places to visit and restaurants to try.
One of the first things I noticed when I came here is that Mississauga is a multiethnic city, which gives you the opportunity to know different people, traditions and cultures. I absolutely loved it!
During my stay I had the chance to visit Niagara Falls, Canada Wonderland, Ripley's aquarium, The Art gallery and different lakes. I'm sure that if you visit them you won't regret it.
Thanks for reading.
Anna.
I was very worried the first day, but my first teacher, Francis, helped me get used to it. The second teacher Jackie is very friendly and kind, trying to get to know us and our countries, it is very nice. On the third level was Amanda, she helped me learn more words and use them correctly. Vanessa and Robin's teachers are also very professional and thanks to them my spoken English has risen.
All the guys are very friendly, and Carly and Paula will help to join the team.
Every Friday, we'd go out. At first I was not interested, but then I attended all the events. It helps me to practice English and have a lot of fun.
The program and methods of training I really liked, I mastered the program and I have my base.
Thanks to your school, I got a lot of knowledge, made a lot of friends and decided on the way of life.
I loved my home-stay, the teachers, Jackie and Amanda. If I returned to study there I would like to meet them. The location is good because I spent only 15 minutes by bus. I had a lot of fun with the activities on Friday.
Michael and Paula were professionals, friendly and amazing people. They were available to help all the time and for me it's very important for good relationship.
About the classes, in the beginning didn't have writing, but when I told to Jackie about this, she taught us and every week we did some writing. Some times we I didn't like writing, but after Jackie I enjoyed it.
For me, in the afternoon class the students were tired and it is important that the teacher has more enthusiasm, with exercises that requires more student attention.
If you feel like learning English in another country, come to here. No matter what your age, here we feel good and can live intensely an excellent experience. I'm 58 years old.
The teachers and the students were very friendly, not to mention the dynamic classes, exercises and group activities. Although I felt the overall content itself wasn't very strong, the comfortable environment and the means used for teaching made up for it and even more than that. Also, the IELTS classes were really objective, efficient and helpful.

The teachers were very nice and friendly!
The courses in the afternoon were very good, but the course in the morning was not so good, because of too many students and two different levels! How can you concentrate on a exercise while listening with an audio form the the other group?
Some of the teaching methods were likely new to me, therefore I found some approaches not very appealing.
Everyone working in the school were very attentive and friendly.
Facilities were adequate, spacious and comfortable.
I was enrolled for English lesson classes at Heartland International School in Mississauga, Ontario. The classes took place from December 14 to 25, 2015 (Monday to Thursday). It was a two weeks Super-Intensive program. This means I had grammar, vocabulary, listening, speaking and writing classes in the morning, while the afternoon classes were dedicated to the IELTS test preparation. I learnt a lot at these classes. It was very interesting and I could feel my English skills growing.
First of all, the school is very easy to find. I was living at Glen Errin Dr and I took the public transportation. One bus #26 did not change until 1300 Central pky.
When I arrived at the ground floor of the school building, there was a small plate indicating that the school is located at the second floor. At the elevator exit, I couldn't find any poster indicating that we had already entered an education area. I think something must be done about this.
However, the reception was very attractive; doing more would be even more wonderful. At the reception, Paula (the manager) was very nice and friendly; she wished you a warm welcome and brought you into the test room where you must do a placement test which will give a clear indication of your English level. This is where I had the opportunity to see the great Michael, the Managing Director of the school. He gave me the test and at the end I was informed of my level and received a manual according to this level. Afterwards, I was able to join the class.
It had its advantages and disadvantages as it was a multilevel class with different skills, but I had enjoyable times with Teacher Kelly; she has a good pedagogy approach. She introduced the topic efficiently. My classmates were very friendly. We shared our experiences during speaking and writing classes. It was really a good place to socialize and meet new friends.
In the afternoon with Teacher Armanda, it was really a high level class. It was some kind of academic class. She really impressed me a lot. With her, I learnt a lot: listening tips, speaking tips, and writing tips. It was my favorite class.
Friday was reserved for social activities where classmates, teachers and staff can sit together around a table and share food, drinks, and play games. During the only Friday that I was there, the activity was related to Christmas. The organization was beautiful. Thanks to Paula for this moment.
I spent a great time at this school and my English has improved a lot.
Hi Alain, Thank you for your review. We really enjoyed having you as a student though it was a short period of time. Your energy and enthusiasm was well appreciated in the classroom.
I'm happy to inform you that we have already acted on one of your suggestions by adding a second class for our lower level students. This class is now being taught by Amanda, and we will rotate on quarterly basis.
Feel free to comeback and visit us anytime!
