Our intensive English programme is for enthusiastic students who want to accelerate their learning experience by putting their language skills into practice through a choice of electives. The varied learning styles of the Intensive English programme allows students to activate the language studied in their lessons in everyday scenarios and develop their fluency and communication skills, whilst building their confidence and knowledge of English language.
Overview of syllabus
Over the course of the summer, students will put their language skills into practice through varied learning styles, including:
Language Study: The syllabus focuses on contemporary English through topics specifically designed for junior learners. Language study supplies the building blocks students need to communicate successfully with native and non-native speakers.
Language in Use: Students are put in real-life situations to develop fluency and communication skills, building students' confidence and knowledge of English.
Excursion Link Lessons: Before full-day excursions, students learn about the destinations they are about to visit, including the history and culture of the area.
Academic Skills: The academic skills classes give students an introduction to exam techniques to help students improve the skills of academic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. These classes culminate with students taking the Bucksmore Assessment.
Electives: Students sign up to a choice of vocational subjects to enhance their English usage through different topics such as creative writing, business and IELTS preparation.
Projects: Students are encouraged to work collaboratively on projects. Each weekly project ends with a presentation evening, during which all groups display and discuss their work.

KCL is located in the heart of London and is one of the most popular schools in UK. The school specializes in teaching English to foreign students like you. Their class size is also very small compared to other schools. They also have very friendly teachers and staff members who will take good care of you while you're in London.
The nationality and age mix at Bucksmore Education varies over different time periods, courses and levels.
KCL does not hold classes on the holiday dates below. The school does not compensate for these holidays, so make sure to choose your start date accordingly.
Founded in 1829, King’s College London is one of the oldest university-level institutions in England. The university has 5 campuses although Bucksmore only uses the historic, and arguably, most famous Strand Campus, a short 5 minute walk from Covent Garden.
Bucksmore students studying at King’s College London will benefit from an exciting activities schedule that centres around exploring life in the capital city. All students are provided with a London travelcard so they can visit museums, landmarks and famous city sites throughout their time on their course.
Accommodation
Located only a 3 minute walk from Waterloo station, Stamford Street accommodation is located just south of the River Thames. Students are accommodated in flats of 6-7 students with one Bucksmore staff member in each flat. All rooms are single en-suite and have a shared kitchen facility for hot water and fridges. Male and female accommodation is separate.
The main teaching site is at the Virginia Woolf Building, which is a 15 minute walk from the accommodation. Students will take their meals in Bush House, 2 minutes from the teaching site and adjacent to the famous Somerset House.
Student residences are more suitable for an independent student, who is looking for clean, basic accommodation at an economic price. All students must be 13 - 18. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about student residence accommodation
We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.
If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from KCL. Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.
If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
Please note that we do not book flights for our students. If you are researching airfare costs, we recommend using Kayak.com, a search engine that lets you compare flight options from your home country to London based on your budget, schedule and preferences.
