"Not many students so I was not offered group class."

Janet Eastridge, student from USA

I had only one teacher who was good but interactions with other students was lacking due to only 3 other students who attended only a few hours. The coffee was fantastic. I did not like the texts because they were Mexican and contained many idioms not commonly used in Costa Rica. My first day was only 2 hr instead of 5; likewise, the second day was 3 hr. I was told because there was no group class I would get only 20 hr of instruction instead of the super intensive 30 hr I paid for. It was not my fault that the school did not have enough enrollment. The director was sympathetic and changed my schedule to give a few more hours.

I did not like class time taken up for the silly “graduation”. I found it juvenile and did not want to participate.

My homestay family was very friendly but their food was horrible, cheap, low quality and poor nutrition lacking in vegetables. I was given lots of food but the quality was not worth eating. Accommodations were clean and what I expected having traveled to Costa Rica many times, so I have no problem with that.

Would I recommend this school to others? Probably not, but that is not to say that others may like the school. I preferred the larger school in Santa Ana called Conversa Lingüística. Don Quijote was more conveniently located and the one week fit my schedule. I did not like that the prices posted on your website were not correct. More than enough time had lapsed since the new year that you could have updated with the new rates. At least put a sentence stating “prices may increase in January” or “prices are for 201x”. Also, you should declare the additional registration fee. I was very disappointed that my final payment was significantly higher than what I saw on the web site.

Home stay with a single or double room and either half or full board is the primary housing option in Latin America and private rooms are always available. Our experience has shown that living with a host family is the best way to fully immerse yourself in the local culture, customs, and traditions of whichever country you choose.

Our host families vary from young families to one or two retired people, all Spanish speakers. All families have been carefully selected in order to ensure that your stay be as pleasant as possible, and in Latin America you’ll find that the families warmly welcome students as one of their own. It's important to remember that the standards of living in many Latin American countries are lower than what those of North America and Europe. The families belong to the middle class or higher in their countries, but this may mean a simpler way of life than what you're used to. We encourage students to keep an open mind and be willing to adapt to the local customs when necessary.

We will always try to accommodate students within 20-30 minutes from the Enforex School by walking or public transportation. Traveling with a friend? No problem: you can request to be placed in the same house if you so desire.
