Tours Langues is a small and friendly French school located in Tours (one hour from Paris by train), a very pleasant historical city. Our groups are limited to 8 students which enables us to offer individual monitoring; our teachers are native speakers, fully qualified, experienced and trained.
We offer our students free access to the Internet and free transportation to the excursions we organize every Friday afternoon. It’s the best way to learn French as well as French culture. We also give one to one lessons.
Tours Langues, created in 1994, is located place Plumereau, in the city centre, close to the shops, railway and coach stations. It is in the historical and tourist district of the city. Place Plumereau is the favorite meeting place for students and Tourangeaux - the city inhabitants. You will find there many restaurants and outdoor cafés to have a little rest and to speak French.
Tours Langues pays particular attention to students. To enhance the chance of success and progress, the classes consist of a maximum of 8 people (10 people from June to September). Our teachers are specialized in teaching French as a foreign language. Whatever your age, your level of French or your aims, we provide a wide range and variety of lessons. We offer a balance between grammar, writing and oral expression, with the assistance of various technological aids (video- computers- television). These can be adapted to the specific needs of each individual.
The nationality and age mix at Tours Langues varies over different time periods, courses and levels. Throughout the year, the average age is 30. In the summer, the average age is 25.

Tours Langues is located in the historical heart of Tours, the capital of the Loire Valley where the purest French is spoken. Situated in the very heart of the Old Town, the school is in close proximity to the Loire and many shops and facilities.
As the art of good living is of prime importance in our region you will find many excellent restaurants, bars and of course fine cafes and patisseries. Also within walking distance, there are unique shops offering everything from exquisite local wines to rare books with everything in between. And “Tours” is just one hour from Paris by TGV.
Tours Langue was an exceptional place to continue learning and growing in French. The teachers all but specifically Caro were outstanding. They were all patient, kind, fun, and understanding. The lessons were tailored to what we wanted to learn but also needed to learn. I always felt welcomed and encouraged by them. Also, the town is a perfect place to learn as well. It is close to Paris but actually very accessible with a learning vibe. It is hard to find any info on Tours because of the name in English but the town really is great, making this a perfect opportunity to learn French in an awesome place. I was worried I would be the oldest person there but there was such a good balance of ages, nationalities, and french level. It was such a great experience- if you are even remotely considering it Tours is a great option.

Bonjour Astrid,
Nous te remercions de ton avis sur l'école. ça a été un plaisir de t'accueillir. Tout le monde garde un excellent souvenir de toi. Bonne continuation
I was really blown away by the care and support of all the staff. They worked hard to make sure all the students felt comfortable and had a good experience, both in the classroom and at the residences. The classes were a lot of fun for me, and I quickly gained confidence in my speaking ability. I'm satisfied with my level of improvement and I learned a lot about French culture and the Touraine region, too! The location of the school is right in the heart of old Tours, which makes it easy to explore after class and enjoy the local food. The excursions to the chateaux around the area were a wonderful cultural experience, and the occasional celebrations with the school's sister pastry school were a delightful bonus. I would happily return to Tours Langues in future and recommend them to anyone who wants to learn some French and experience the slow life in a beautiful French city.

Bonjour Kelly,
Nous te remercions de ton gentil commentaire. Nous avons été ravis de t'accueillir et nous sommes très contents que l'école t'ait plu.
Nous te souhaitons une bonne continuation.
I came to this school on the recommendation of a colleague and I agree with him: small classes, very engaged teacher, lovely part of the city and the country. The only think I did not like about classes was "games"; don't like games in English & it took me too long to figure out the rules.

The only thing was that there were no people of my age. So a I had no social activities/appointments after class. But for one week that wasn't a problem. The family I'd stayed was very friendly and hospitable. I'm glad that I had chosen to stay with a family. It helped me to speak better French. It was great to close the week with a very interesting tour at a winery.

There is also a great emphasis placed on vocabulary building. These are two great strengths of the school. That said, if you are interested in improving your listening skills, or reading and written expression (or need these skills in order to prepare for the TCF or DELF/DALF language exams), these are not emphasized at all in the general French classes (the three hours of instruction each morning). Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my one month at Tours Langues. The pace of learning in my view is "humane" (no insane amount of homework each evening, or highly-developed computer skills needed to complete in-class assignments - in fact, personal computers are not used in the general French classes), and the teachers are just wonderful: highly educated, humorous, and energetic.

Both Lucie and Caroline were amazing professors. The classes were varied in content but incorporated current events, art, film, music, history and culture while teaching oral comprehension, vocabulary and grammar.
There are field trips every Friday, with visits to chateaus, museums and caves. It's an amazing way to practice French while learning about the region.
Since I spent only one week I cannot say a lot about the school itself, my teacher was very professional, he did everything to make the classes meaningful and humorous, as well. He had a very good sensitivity for the participants and tried to explain everything according to our level of understanding.
At that week there was no social activity so I cannot rate that part.
We liked the director—who happened to be our teacher as well—very much. In addition to expert language tutoring, he had answers to all our very specific questions, was very flexible in structuring the class to fit our needs, and we enjoyed his company and dialogue on several excursions.

The school is perhaps more for people between the age off 20-30. The method they used is "by conversation".
When there is a lack of basic knowledge of the French language than the conversation is difficult.
The teachers are very charming and the atmosphere is great.
Classes: I learned a lot in the classes, although I couldn't understand everything. Some words were too hard for me, because I didn't learn them yet.
Teachers: The teachers were very nice and they tried to be interested in everyone, which I really liked.
Location: At first the location was hard to find, because I didn't know what to look for, but after a while it got easier.
Facilities: There were many facilities. I didn't think there were too little. I thought they were good.
Activities: In the one week that I was there, there weren't many activities. We mostly just sat in a room, so I can't really tell something about that.
Housing: I found the housing very nice. It wasn't too small or too big. I thought it was good.
Everything was perfect. Great location, close to good restaurants and the downtown city and has a perfect building. Despite of being in a busy square, classes were quiet and very well lit. Teachers were calm and always available to help us and take our doubts.

The location was fantastic, right at Place Plumereau surrounded by cafes and restaurants with windows overlooking the square. The school itself was comfortable with good sized teaching rooms, a kitchen (fridge, microwave etc,) available for student's disposal, and a computer room/library upstairs. The teachers were fantastic - Eric was very enthusiastic and made you feel really comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. There were a lot of focus on speaking which was great for me, and we chose what we would like to study every week. Classes were small - there were seven students in my class and we had the biggest class.
I went on one excursion during my stay which was to a vineyard and it was great. I was impressed that they offered weekly excursions - the other students had been to various castles and museums in previous weeks and they were even looking at organizing a trip to Disneyland Paris. I would definitely return here again.
My experience was great. The learning system was different from that of my country, but I very much enjoyed it. The school was very proper. They had a sense of intimacy. I discovered that all the teachers knew me. Some were not very nice but others were friendly, especially the teachers I had. They coordinated very well, and they knew very well our weaknesses. They tried to help me and they encouraged me, especially Professor Ibrahim, who helped me move to Delf B2, which I managed to do.
I think I would like this school to have more activities and more visits to places. I liked the home I rented. My neighbors were very nice. My only problem was the bed. My mattress was made of sponge, which made my back hurt. I am going to the doctor to have my back checked.
Other than that, I must thank the Director, Mr. Durrant. LI was also very nice, and even accompanied me to the station house and vice versa, while bringing my heavy suitcases.
The staff and teachers at Tour Langues in Tours France were very friendly and professional. My friend and I were older students and we were a bit hesitant about the possibility of being in a class with very young students who may have had nothing in common with us. However, we were delighted to be put in a class with a nice mix of people of different ages so we were very pleased indeed.
The teacher was very friendly and made us all feel welcome and at home. We had ample opportunity to speak French and to express our points of view. All student were included in the conversations and task so nobody felt left out.
The location of the school is excellent - right in the centre of Tours.
We were not told about any activities or outings and I would have liked to have been included in this, however, we were only there for 5 days.
Generally, I had a great week and would like to return to Tours Langues sometime in the near future.
