Celtic English Academy is excellently located in the heart of Cardiff city centre, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the main shopping areas. The school is situated next to Cardiff in the city's "student quarter", and there are many nearby shops, bars, and cafes. The city's largest green spaces, the beautiful Sophia Gardens, and Llandaff Fields are located only a 5-minute walk away.
The school suited me very well, the only drawback was the organization problems due to a very large number of students arriving at one time.
The buildings are very nice and it is pleasant to spend time there, also during breaks or after classes. It is very nice that the school has a cafe and a small kitchen that students can use.
The staff is very nice and quickly helps in solving problems or explaining how the system works. The teachers are nice and very helpful even if you are not in their class.
Trips and other activities are nice, sometimes the organization failed because the availability of museums was not checked. But this was the only situation like this, other options were very pleasant. The school is located in a nice location, close to the center and a few museums, also not far from the store if anyone needs it.
I lived in the West Wing dorms. Of my entire trip, I was probably least happy with the accommodation. It wasn't the worst, but the lack of a repaired elevator for two weeks when you live on the top floor has a significant impact on your stay.
Also, the rules regarding cleanliness are slightly incomprehensible and information about washing machines and other rooms to use was not provided to me immediately, I had to find out on my own.
The rooms are pleasant, with a functional, neat bathroom. The kitchen is also nice and spacious. The only caveat is that you may find expired food left by previous tenants in the refrigerators. What was also bothersome for me was the lack of response from the staff to noises (people staying in the yard) in the evening, even though I reported them.
The classes were very useful for me. The teachers and personnel were great. The school is located in the center of the city which is very convenient.

I didn't used the ousing part.
Thank you for all !
It was an amazing school
Teachers were cooperative
Atmosphere was very good
The teachers and students are very friendly. This is easy to feel comfortable with them. The different levels are well studying in order to improve his English quickly.
Show details » Read more...The classes were good equipped with latest equipment and large enough. Number of students was perfect for the size of the class. Teachers were experienced and have ability to transfer the knowledge. Activities in school and outside were good, could be improved by providing more trips to other UK cities during weekends. The location and the size of the school is not good should be in one building. I have achieved my goal and my English language has improved and for sure will go back to Celtic School to do my IELTS course.
Show details » Read more...This experience was very pleasant, the reception was very good! The class gave me the opportunity to meet students from all over the world and it obliges us to speak English all day. Classes were also very interesting, thanks to the teachers who were helpful and friendly.
Show details » Read more...It has been a great experience. I have had the chance to improve my English with two different teachers, one in the mornings and the another one in the afternoons. Both teachers have been really good, with different styles but they have helped me just the same.
The classes are pretty different every day, they don´t follow the same structure and you are involved in a wide range of activities during the lessons.
The school location is really good, it is close to the downtown and it is just 20 minutes walking from the Residence.
The Residence is well-located too, close to the train station and just a 10-minute walk to the downtown. The atmosphere there is really cool. There are people from different countries with different culture but it is not a problem at all.
I have been studying at Celtic School all of August. The first two weeks I was in a General Course with 3 hours a day, in an upper-intermediate level. The teacher was dynamic and helped us to talk a lot. We revised the grammar of 4 lessons of the book Cutting Edge, and we did a lot of exercises, debates, presentations in groups, writings and some homework. As you see we did a lot of activities. So we made the most of our time. Another good aspect of our teacher was that he explained plain English. I realized it is important to learn the common English expressions and avoid the unusual words and sentences. On the other hand our teacher had to face different problems: a bit high number of students (we were eleven), change of classroom the second day and a small classroom. In fact bricklayers and workers have been repairing part of the school unexpectedly. The manager and staff apologized, but I know the delay in finishing the work wasn't their fault.
Over the weeks I have studied in a one-on-one course: One teacher and I. I have learnt a lot.
The school is well set in center of Cardiff, close to Cardiff Museum.
I can´t say anything about housing, because I have been living in my brother's flat.
For my first two weeks are difficult because teachers changed every time and I couldn't concentrate because I had to adapt my understanding according to each one of them. Teachers are very good, I mean they helped me a lot about learning English. Their way of teaching is very clear and gave me the craving to learn more.
Located near the city center, Celtic School is accessible so, its location makes student life easy.
I like each trip every weekend because, it's cheaper than going alone to a city. I really enjoyed each trip in cities where we went.
I really enjoyed my stay in host family, that family is very kind and nice. They helped me a lot to improve my English and made my stay very easy.
From parents point of view (I'm Valentine's father) I would say we were really happy to discover the seriousness of Celtic School.
We were glad to appreciate the way Valentine improved her english speaking and writing.
As she is now following upper classes preparing for high level engineer courses after passing her A Level, her teachers appreciate her good command of english, matching high level courses requirements.
We will certainly send her back to Celtic School during summer to follow TOEIC training courses.
Homestays are carefully selected and offer students the opportunity to learn more about the local culture in a comfortable setting while studying English in Cardiff. These homes are often between 10 - 45 minutes away from the school by public transport. Families usually offer affordable meal plans that allow you to sample the local cuisine. If you have special requests or diet restrictions (because of religion or health reasons), please let us know in advance. Your housing starts on the Sunday before your first day of class and ends on the Saturday after your last day of class, unless otherwise noted. Learn more about homestay housing

If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
