I took a two week class, and had a great experience. The teachers were fabulous, and the other folks in the class were fun to get to know. The teaching was a great mix of academic with a lot of conversational thrown in, and they adjusted to what the students were looking for very well. The school is in a really interesting part of the old city - I was glad to get to know that neighborhood a bit. I would totally take a class here again.

Everything related to the school was fantastic. The teaching method focusing on interaction rather than rote memorization was very effective, and easily translated to real life applications. Thessaloniki is a wonderful city to learn in, with plenty of cultural sites worth exploring, but the standout was definitely the school staff. Couldn't be happier with my experience.

The location is great, right in the old town, one day we visited nearby Agios Nicolaus Orfanos, a wonderful Byzantine church nearby.
Students were a great mix of nationalities, ages and backgrounds.
I spent two wonderful weeks in the school Alexander the Great!
Excellent teachers, very good atmosphere and excellent method of teaching.
In two weeks I was able to learn a lot about the Greek language, the history and tradition of Greece and Thessaloniki.
Everything was perfect from the first minute I arrived to Thessaloniki.
The taxi was waiting for me at the airport as agreed.
The hotel abc was comfortable with very good service and very well located.
Here you can see a little part of what I wrote to my teacher on my last day of the course:
The school staff were very friendly and were willing to take extra mile to teach and support what ever it takes.. therefore, very much happy with the program for 2 weeks of which given information is only limştes as anyone could imagine. I would certainly spread the word the school to friends around..
Show details » Read more...The school is open and functional, my teacher was friendly and competent, I was able to tackle my problem this week and really talk a lot. What a pity, I was the only student, so I had no exchange with others.
I organized the accommodation myself, very close to the school and it was awesome! A small apartment with a view to the sea.
I am thinking of going back there, apartment and school!
The educational process was built very professionally, taking into account the existing language level and thematic preferences of the cadet. At the same time, the process of communication with the teacher was creative: the dialogue was not rigidly tied to the pre-approved curriculum, but changed its direction depending on the situation. And it kept a lively and deep motivation to master the language. Training sessions were held against the background of simple but cordial human participation, which also served to their effectiveness.
Classes completely satisfied their purpose. The school is located in a quiet, albeit central part of the city. Around and nearby - the concentration of the main museums and historical and cultural monuments of Thessaloniki. Living conditions are decent.
I not only felt a greater freedom in the use of the Greek language, did not interpret the boundaries of communication, but also discovered for myself the superficial layers of culture and world attitudes of the Greek people that were not obvious to the surface.
There were no negative impressions. I have the intention to continue to participate in the curriculum of this school.
The best way to learn a language. I went to Thessaloniki for one week and learned a lot; also about history, culture and Greek music. I will definitely return next year!

Conclusion: simply perfect and absolutely recommendable!
I did only a 2 weeks course, so that is very short, but I learned a lot. I wanted to improve my fluency and to improve my text- understanding competences, and these goals were fully accomplished. I had 2 hours private lessons per day and the teacher made a special program for me that fitted perfect to my wishes. Both the teachers are very professional and enthusiast and they do everything to make the course a success. They make you feel very welcome in any way.
The excursions we did (with the other students together) were very interesting. If I had any questions, I could always ask them, even after school hours ( by mail).
The school is in a nice building in the Ano Poli of Thessaloniki.
The only thing that I didn't like about it, was that I had to leave after 2 weeks. I would have loved to stay longer and hope to come back in the future.
Thank you Christo and Anouso for a wonderful time!
The teaching was good and the location was fine! I enjoyed the lessons and the social activities.
Show details » Read more...Location and facilities were very nice though it was a little far from the city center. But the bus access was very good. With my level of the language there were only two of us so we had very individualized and interesting classes with our teacher. We had the freedom to decide, if we wanted to stay together, or split it into private lessons with the teacher, which we did after half of the time. I had the opportunity to really try to speak the language, to improve a lot and to get to know not only the language but also a different culture. In the end the two of us became really good friends with the teachers, and they also did other activities with us like museum visit etc. I stayed in an apartment that was not arranged by the school, so I cannot say anything about the housing.
It was a great experience, and I would definitely do it again.
thank you Ursula !!! We hope to see you again in our school !!!!
I was totally satisfied with these Greek lessons, as well as the personality and competence of the teacher, Anouso Tzinikou.
Good points:
I liked everything, from the welcoming feeling of being in "good hands", to their availability, to the patience of the teacher. I also liked the clear and accurate answers to any question, the information they gave about Greek culture, which was helpful to my stay, to the well-structured course book, to the balanced progression of learning, which was logical and coherent.
I had a really good language teacher. The results are beyond my expectations!
Thank you!
I took a two week Greek course at the Hellenic Language School Alexander the Great. It was situated a bit out of the center, so I had to take a bus for +/- 15 minutes. The classrooms are in good condition and the teachers are the friendliest people you will ever meet. They both helped me a lot with everything (not just with the courses, but I was having trouble finding accommodation, for example, and they helped me). They organized a cultural activity every week, which was very interesting. The books and everything you need was provided by the school, so you didn't have to think of anything. Since I am used to learning languages, the course could have been a bit more difficult for me. Still, I think this Language School and the course provided an excellent basis of the Greek language. I would definitely recommend it if you are considering learning Greek.

The building looked very neat to me. The toilet was not well-cleaned.
I had a wonderful experience in Greece with your classes, with a teacher that is very patient and comprehensive with a good program. About the location, I was lucky to have my own apartment not far from the school. I would like to have more visits to museums but I am conscious that it's very difficult to do a lot of things during 4 weeks. I do not regret my choice and I could even recommend this class to all those who want to go to Greece and learn the language.

Location is good too, it's not difficult to find. Room where I was studying is good also. I got Greek books and I could leave it for me and it's perfect so I can continue to read and learn at home.
I haven't thing which I didn't like. Everything was great really. So I'm very happy that I had this experience.
Thank to this school.
Best wishes.
Very good overall experience.
There were 5 students from 4 different countries, our teacher was excellent, she actually let us choose when to have the breaks, the location couldn't be better, the facility was very simple but functional, our 2-week course included 4 days of activities which included going to a traditional Greek tavern, visiting a Byzantine museum, etc.
My overall experience was very pleasant and I would definitively recommend the Hellenic Language School "Alexander the Great."
Thank you very much.
