The Standard Course focuses on learning and actively using language structures – this way the instruction is very much practice oriented. But what does this actually mean? Your teacher will assign you an active role while studying German and will draw you and your fellow students directly into his interactive instruction. We try to avoid that you just sit there passively, listening what the teacher is going to explain up front. Your teacher will help you studying the language by instructing you clearly and thus enabling you to develop and to explain grammatical rules and structures on your own and independently. Because only when you actively understand what you’ve learned you will also memorize and internalize it permanently!
In the Standard Course, German language will always be practiced and taught in context by using as far as possible authentic, everyday life language situations. This way you will study language in everyday, professional and university situations – after all, you study towards a well-defined goal and you want to focus on that from the very beginning. Through this practical orientation of the Standard Course, already after a very short time you will gain a solid linguistic basis for making yourself more familiar with the language and culture in Germany, with the country and its people. And this will be true for all areas of modern life, because our modern didactical approach will always concentrate on listening, reading, speaking and writing.
Once you book the course :
- Download the free software Zoom for your desktop or smartphone.
- You need the video function, if possible a headset and of course an internet connection.

The classes were god enough to learn German because it was a very small class where you could participate at all times. The teachers were also good, although they could be paying more attention to students as some of them leaved the classroom while we ere doing exercises. The location was pretty good in Hamburg center. I actually didn’t participated in any activities. The housing with the host family was pretty comfortable and I was very thankful with Frank Evers that hosted me during a whole month.

Show details » Read more...Very intensive course and everything explained in an understandable way. Amazing teachers especially Kai and Zafer who made everybody feel comfortable. Encouraged everyone to ask questions and patiently answer all of them. Nobody was left out. Amazing location where during the breaks I could admire beautiful views.
Show details » Read more...I needed a brush-up of my oral skills, so I had taken the premium course of 28 lessons for one week to profit the most. The teachers were very committed and tried to motivate all the students to participate actively in the classes.
My accommodation was with a very nice host family.
I did not participate in any social activities.
The lessons were held on time. The teacher adapted very well to my needs. His encouragement helped me overcome the fear of speaking German. The teacher had a lot of patience and took the time to explain the words to me that I did not understand. We carried on the phone conversation because that's what I needed.

About my training, I faced the problem of not being on a good level because of the pandemic situation. I would have normally follow B1 training but in Hamburg no possibility so I took A2.
It was very good for the Grammatik and I do learn things but I also has very long moments of waiting, the time the others students finished their exercises (who were easy for me).
In addition of this, we did mainly writing exercises or oral comprehension but not enough talking, which is the point I would have really needed to work.
At the end of the 3 weeks, I can say that I did learn more vocabulary and German' rules, but I did not progress as much as I thought I would. So I am a little bit disappointed.
Concerning the teacher, she was very friendly and caring. A lovely person. The only problem sometimes, was to get the meaning of words because she was not speaking a very good english to translate. Thanks google translate !
Besides the training in classroom, they were no activities so I don't have a lot to say about this.
I am now waiting for a certificate to send to my job, proving that I followed the training.
Facilities are great. Host was great, if a little strange. Some of the teachers were great, others were terrible.

Teachers were of different characters, but what's common among them was that they were knowledgeable and so kind to help and support even after the lesson hours.
Location is easily accessible
Housing is far from the school but has a very nice host family. They were really caring and very good value for money.
It is a good experience, and if I have time I will return to study higher level of German.
The institute is located in a building with good infrastructure and easy access to subway. The professionals in charge were very kind and very professional and provided me with all the information that I needed.
The city is world class and has an excellent system of public transport, so it is easy to go everywhere.
The teachers and classes are very good, however you need to have a basic level of German before starting. I recommend it for students that have previous knowledge of German language.
The housing that was provided for me was very nice, clean, friendly host and safe. Excellent!
Overall, the experience was very good, although I attended in January, with rain and snow, it was not bad. The city and transport is well prepared and there was no problem. The only matter that I do not quantify as excellent was that, I would like more social activities for teenagers and other activities. After classes everyone had to go to their personal activities or jobs. Although, perhaps winter is not the best time.
The enrolling process was by internet, excellent, they responded to me quickly with all the information and I needed and help me to find housing in a short time.
I appreciate the lessons I received in did deutsch-institut Hamburg. I've learned a lot of new things. This was a good place where you could work, and I think I’ll come back again if I can.
I’d like to thank the professors for their kindness.
Sorry for the time I took to give you a response; I was without Internet for a long time.
I did a course for two weeks and did not avail of the housing, so I can only comment on the classes. The teachers were super nice and I very much did a level test on the first day. The classrooms were very clean and well-appointed. I would like to repeat the experience.
Show details » Read more...I was in Hamburg for Wagner's Ring Cycle and decided to use my free time to improve my German. I was only there for one week and found it most beneficial for improving my confidence at speaking German. Only attended classes, so no trips, housing, etc.
Show details » Read more...The classes were not in the same size. Each room is different so it depends on how many students there are in the same class, so it’s a little bit luck.
The teachers were trying to do their best, but, of course, you have to work hard to catch with them. They were very helpful and supportive.
The location was not the best but everything you need is around either by bus triangle or by foot .
I have not tried any one of the activities.
And I did not use their housing options.
It was a much needed experience to have studied in the DID program. The staff was kind and enthusiastic (and of the administration all had good English skills) and showed general interest in each student. The atmosphere in the classroom was relaxed and everyone had a chance of saying and pronouncing German words (even though they feared their skills weren't good enough). Most of the teachers were really good and the education was varied and never ordinary or trivial. One teacher had a problem of showing up late but we asked the staff if they could talk with her and both parts seemed very understanding. The teachers were very good at sensing the students' abilities and that worked very well. The household I lived in was very good. The host mom was very kind and allowed us to eat at her restaurant every day, which was really great. The social activities were brilliant as Boris Jetelina and other affiliates of the school were great at pulling together ein ausflucht für uns. In general I would rate the experience very highly and I would definitely recommend it.

Most of the teachers were really good, and even though the first week was hard, from then on I caught up and started learning fast. The housing was great, a big house, and had a really, REALLY big room for guests, with a piano! Really good experience. The Bad: The weather in winter in Germany is really bad, lots of rain and incredibly cold!
Show details » Read more...Accommodation was with a lady who's an illegal immigrant with an Italian boyfriend who wore only a bath robe and never left the apartment for fear of being found out he lived there. Also extensive building work being carried out at the property. In the apartment above my bedroom, work started at 8:00am. We didn't need to be awake until 8:30am. The noise was so loud you would have to leave the apartment immediately. Unbareable. This spoiled an otherwise perfect experience. I would reccommmend DID but would advise to source own accommodation.
