"The worst experience ever. An absolute no go school."

Roger Vroemen

This was the worst experience ever. We picked this school for my 19 year old son, because of the school and housing opportunities on Guadeloupe. The combination of a school with a sort of campus looked very interesting. Studying and living with fellow students to enjoy the island, meet new people and along the way learn the French language. First day arrived the room wasn't ready. My son had to stay with the landlady. Strangely my son did not see any other students on the campus, only very old fishermen. On Monday, the starting day of the course, my son heard that there are no other students coming during his whole 5 weeks of course. This was not what my son was expecting, so we transferred him to another language institute on Guadeloupe (EF in Le Gossier), that did have other students. My son left Media Language Guadeloupe within 5 days to join the other institute EF. I tried to get in touch with Director Christian Aventurin via phone, email and also the people from Language international (the organization I booked the course and campus), did not receive any response or even contact. I paid the full amount and did not receive anything back from the school and housing. To be honest, the most disturbing thing is that the director Christian Aventurin did not have the decency to respond to my mails or phone calls. What a loser!
MY ADVICE: NEVER, NEVER BOOK AT MEDIA LANGUAGE GUADELOUPE

"Hard work - but it was worth it!"

Edith Steele, student from Afghanistan

Our classes were short. Only a couple of hours each day because we also wanted to explore the island. Still we accomplished a lot in a short time. Christian was always polite and patient with our errors. The school was centrally located and always clean and tidy. Christian had to find housing for us at the last minute because the air condition was broken in our original location. The second location was closer to the beach but further from the school. Not a problem because it was an easy walk to the school.

"Guadeloupe provides the perfect language work-cation with it's diverse cultures, food, music, beaches, and natural landscapes."

Meghan Thoreau, student from USA

I benefited greatly from the 4-week in-person semi-intensive language class with Christian. (Who also teaches virtual classes if you are interested.) Sainte-Anne offers the perfect language retreat. The people, location, and local amenities pair well with an intensive language learning experience - work hard and then relax by the sea. The classroom space is inviting, open, comfortable, and safe. He uses integrated learning technologies, movie clips, curriculum, and worksheets, and offers plenty of opportunities to engage in casual conversations, and ask questions, and genuinely is an amazing and kind human being, who is diligent in everything he does, is very open and accepting of people and cultures, knows French, Spanish, German, and English, is traveled, and who most importantly is a person who wants to share his passion for the French language and culture. Christian is also very adaptive to individual learning and scheduling needs, as well as sensitive to the mind and body needs of sitting down several hours a day to learn a language. He does this by offering amazing homemade shakes, and espresso, or letting you wander around the room admiring its decor, artifacts, pictures, books, and language resources. If you are willing and interested he is very willing to share his passion for tango and exploring Guadeloupe on weekend adventures, hikes, and beach visits. There are moments after returning home that I find myself yearning to return to those language-learning days, simple routines, sounds of roosters, and the French and Creole languages floating around me like a welcoming sea breeze. Please don't overthink it, just come to Guadeloupe, you will have no regrets only a reward for the experience and memories that may bring you back for more.

"My time in Sainte-Anne was a great experience, for learning, for reflection, and for enjoying daily life."

KEN BEARE, student from USA

The course itself was enjoyable - Christian presented material well and always looked to make it intellectually stimulating, working from my interests and taking things in new directions. The material and the discussions gave me a lot to think about beyond just improving my ability in French. I really enjoyed being in Sainte-Anne - I chose the lodging proposed by MLG, and it was the right choice. I had a great experience with the family - Madame is an excellent host and a great cook. The room was comfortable and spacious, and including breakfast and dinner seven days a week was great value for money. The lodging was a seven minute walk from the school and ten minutes from the main beach. On the excursions I had the opportunity to see parts of Basse-Terre which I wouldn't have been able to visit without renting a car myself. The course left plenty of time to do other things, so I enjoyed wandering around and meeting people in Sainte-Anne. I was there for March and April, and the weather was very nearly perfect.

"Exactly what I was looking for"

Federica Versea, student from Italy

I am fully satisfied with the experience. The course was very effective and allowed me to improve my knowledge of the French language exponentially. The classes are very small so learning is faster and more personalized. I highly recommend this school.

The location is fabulous, in one of the most beautiful areas of the island, the professor very helpful, knowledgeable and competent. All the necessary ingredients for a full immersion in the language and culture.

"Excellent and patient teacher and great location in beautiful Sainte Anne. I learned a lot of French!"

Gillian Barber, student from Ireland

I would definitely recommend this school if you're serious about learning some French. My boyfriend and I booked in 3 weeks and decided to extend for an extra week because we were learning so much. The French immersion in class feels a lot in the first few days, but you will get into it and suddenly find yourself putting French sentences together! The teacher, Christian, was extremely patient and easy-going, making it a relaxed and enjoyable space to learn. There were 3 of us in the class for the first 3 weeks and 4 people for our 4th week. The small class size really helps with learning faster. Another thing was, we had to move our start of class date forward by 2 months, due to a covid lockdown, and there was no hassle or problems with this, which we appreciated. As for the location, the school could hardly be closer to the most beautiful beach of Sainte Anne, and I believe this town was the best place to base yourself to enjoy Guadeloupe, as it has lots of bars, restaurants, and safe swimming with the fish on the reef.

"Great experience!"

Gerlinde Jungmayr, student from Austria

I was 2 weeks at the school.. I was the only one in the class, so i learned a lot . The teacher Christian was very competent, nice and patient. The class was individual tailored to my needs.., Beside the classes we did also some excursions to the rain forest, so i had the possibility to see the island too. It was great. The school is small and very personal. The location is good in the nice town of St. Anne, near beach and market..i wished i could have stayed longer. I was feeling very well!

"Enjoying learning"

Patricia Cortinas Cocho

The cours was perfect for me.
We had a small group and through it and Christian´s flexibility we could adapt the course to our needs.
We discussed about current issues/news and this helped us to learn/practice the language in a natural way and to learn about the French/Guadeloupean culture.

In my opinion Saint-anne is a great place to do this kind of course.

Thank you very much! :) We will come again!

"The French class at Media Langues Guadeloupe, along with the lovely town of St. Anne's and the most patient and kind teacher was one of the very best vacations I've ever had."

cathie phelps

I've been all around the world. All travelers say that. In my case, I've lived and worked on a sailboat, been a flight attendant and now work a corporate life in a big city. So, I can positively say that the two weeks I spent at Media Langues Guadeloupe with Christian was not only a very good decision, but one of the best vacations I've ever had.

I brought my young adult son and his girlfriend with me to Guadeloupe. I knew they would sleep late (until noon) every day, and that I probably would not go wild at night as I may have done at one point or another in my life. A French class was a great compromise and wonderful experience. We rented a house in St. Anne's, walking distance from the school and the beach (actually, the school is across the street from the waterfront and in the center of the village)). It could not have been any better. I returned home to show off in my French class. Everyone, including my current teacher, thought my French had improved dramatically. Christian was warm, welcoming and kind, but he ensured I got my money's worth. He will design a learning plan tailored to your needs and at your level.

I highly recommend this program and you can rent a car and travel the island in a very short amount of time (hike the volcano, visit the waterfall, go to the Caribbean side, travel Northeast to the windward beaches, which are gorgeous.
Have fun and come back home relaxed, tanned and proud of yourself for improving your French (or German, or English, as the school offers all of these languages).
