The town of Milton Keynes is located in Buckinghamshire, in the South East of England. Many locals simply call the town MK when referring to it. This government planned ‘new town’ was created to help relieve some of the congestion in London. Students enrolled in English school in Milton Keynes will notice that the streets are plotted in a grid design and the use of gardens and parks was a priority when designing this town. While visiting Milton Keynes, be sure to take in a show at the Milton Keynes Theatre. It is thought to be the country’s most popular because it generally draws the largest number of patrons over the course of a year. It hosts traveling shows as well as longer running productions. As an extra benefit to patrons, it often hosts large productions heading for London’s West End, as a sort of ‘dress rehearsal’ before they head to London, meaning visitors get to see the finest quality productions around. When students taking English courses in Milton Keynes are ready for some time away from studies, head to Stony Stratford and browse the quirky shops, or stop into one of the local pubs for a bit. When ready for a more adventurous outing, head to Willen Lakes and try out the high ropes course. Another great place is Xscape, which considers itself ‘The Ultimate Entertainment Destination’. At this unique venue, visitors can shop, eat, or have fun on the indoor real snow ski slope. There are also opportunities for rock climbing, bowling and indoor skydiving.
