There's not much debate about where to go if you want to learn Finnish – a Finnish school in Helsinki will offer you the chance to learn this fascinating and unique language in an environment as unique and as fascinating, the political, economic and cultural capital of Finaldn. With its famous and stunning architecture, ranging from the neo-classical buildings that gave it the name "The White City of the North" to its famous early-2oth-century Art Deco constructions based on the tales of the Kalevala, Finland's national epic, to the functionalist buildings built for the Olympic Games, Helsinki is not an easy city to forget – and in the summer, when the sun almost never sets, it's an easy city to see. With a climate much warmer than one has a right to expect so far north, Helsinki is one of the most comfortable northern cities to visit, and it offers more than enough to keep the visitor occupied when classes are done. There are many museums to be seen, along with concerts to go to – and enough local bands that it's easy to rock out if that's to your taste. There's also a plentiful selection of sporting events to attend – football, track-and-field, and of course ice hockey being the dominant options. And if you're around at New Year's, at Walpurgis Night (April 30th) or Midsummer, you'll find it hard to miss the celebratory, carnival atmosphere that always attends those nights, with dancing and rowdy students in the street. Then on the 1st of May, recover by going out for a picnic with your friends. During the summer months, you're likely to be able to take in the Helsinki festival, when you won't want to miss the Night of the Arts, when anyone can perform anywhere they want in the entire city.
