ILC Southampton is located in a historic Grade II listed building. Set beside the relaxing East Park, our Southampton centre puts students in a relaxing, supportive school, within easy
reach of the port and many city attractions.

Southampton is a developing city and is quickly becoming the economic centre of the South. It is also very much a student city with a whole mix of nationalities many of whom study at one of the two universities in the city.

Being the cruise capital of Europe, Southampton has over four million visitors every year and offers fantastic cultural experiences from the Seacity Museum, Award-winning parks, quality theatres, and music venues to the modern shopping centre at West Quay.

Come and learn English in a city that has one of the largest shopping centres in the South. Southampton is rich in culture with wonderful museums, art galleries, theatres and the home of some of the largest cruise ships in the world.

Our Southampton language school is set beside the relaxing East Park, and puts students in a relaxing, supportive environment, within easy reach of the Port and many city attractions.

At ILC Southampton, we aim to provide more than just language classes. Our English lessons are interactive and engaging and our social programme provides a fantastic opportunity to explore the best of UK culture.

Most social activities are free including speaking clubs, quiz activities, homework clubs, games activities and walking tours. Occasionally we will offer optional activities on one or two days in a week where there is a small fee (usually £8-£15). These will be for activities such as bowling, a meal out or going to the cinema. For any day trips the fee normally charged is £20-£35.

The course was very productive. I improved my English language skills a lot. The teacher and the staff were very friendly. The class size was small.I liked the activities, but I did not like playing tennis. I wanted to play mini golf, but the other students wanted to play tennis. I also liked the way though the park to the school.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying in the UK for over 11 months, you will receive a reference number called a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) that you need to submit to the UK embassy along with your General Student Visa application. Students who have successfully booked a language course and have paid their fees will receive a CAS from . Please note that UK law states that a CAS can only be issued to students who intend to pursue English language studies for over 11 months.

If you are studying in the UK for 11 months or less, you have to apply for a special visitor visa called a Student Visitor Visa. As a student visitor, you will not be able to work part-time while studying. If you plan to study in the UK for 11 months or less, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you.
