"It was great as I improved my speaking skills"

Anastasiia Orischchenko, student from Russia

It was amazing opportunity to learn English at Inlingua Edinburgh! Most of all I like that teachers changed every 3 days and we had a chance to have different approaches and accents. Lessons were informative and I could improve my English. Also, every day social program was really nice! We had pub nights, walks round the city, museums, board games etc. Thank you Inlingua Edinburgh!

"Learning in a pleasant atmosphere"

Andrea Pohl, student from Germany

Central school and learning in small groups.
Pleasant atmosphere and casual with each other.
Versatile daily business program.

At least 1 change per week by teachers, which brings different teaching methods to bear.

In the morning classes, the focus is more on grammar, exercises and listening. If you want to talk more, you should definitely book the afternoon course "Spoken English".

Otherwise all-round successful vacation in Edinburgh

"Useful"

Stefania Carolina Innocenti, student from Italy

Teachers were very good and friendly. They proposed several interactive activities encouraging the ten students of my class to work in groups or in pairs. The atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable and in the afternoon teachers always organized many pleasant excursions.
I housed in an hotel near the Old town and Waverly station, so I missed the experience with a scottish family.
Perhaps the lunch break (12.45.13.45) was too long: I would have liked to have only a 15 minutes break in order to finish my lesson at 14.30, an hour earlier, to dedicate the entire afternoon to excursions. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal.

"Nice school in the centre of Edinburgh"

Antonina Makarenko, student from Russia

Overall, it was nice. The location of the school is perfect, all the main attractions and major bus stops at Princes Street are within walking distance. The teachers were very helpful and informative, but, unfortunately, we were only following the (various) text books so there weren't any 'creative' exercises, which I personally find rather disheartening (this may already have changed by the time you are reading this review). There were class discussions, of course, which were great as you get to learn all these new perspectives from different cultures. Also, keep in mind that if you are the only student taking some exam-preparation course, the school will cut down the number of classes for this course (this was the case for me and some other students). I know it is only fair to the teachers, but, again, it may be rather unfortunate for the student and I think it might be something you might want to know well in advance. The school also organizes tours around different historical parts of the city, pub nights and other activities that bring the students and teachers together. My host family was wonderful and I've only heard favourable opinions from other students about theirs.

"Wonderful"

Viviane De Barros Duarte, student from Brazil

The school is well-located. It is a small and very comfortable school. Everybody is friendly. I had a problem with my accommodation, and on the first day of class they asked me if everything was okay. During the week the director asked me again if I was okay with my room.

The teachers are tops. Every week you have two different teachers.

The social program is very varied and sometimes very exciting.

I would recommend this school with my eyes closed, mainly because they don’t have a lot of teenagers unlike other schools in July.

Best thing about the school - their mascot!

Edinburgh is a lovely city, despite the rain. People are friendly, they have pleasant streets and pubs - wonderful.

"I enjoyed a lot the city and the people who I met"

Pedro Pablo Avilés García

The trip was one year ago, but I can summarize the main points:

The school was great: its location, the teachers, and the classes that I attended were all great.

The residence house where I was living in was great too. It was in the centre, close to a big park, and its facilities were just right.

The activities of the school helped me to meet new people and the amazing city.

"It was a very diverse life in Edinburgh with my French, Spanish and Italian :)"

Skurikhina Anna

To summarize the two times in Inlingua, I can say everything was absolutely for me, except for the housing and teachers.

Mostly, I liked the school’s small groups and location. However, I had some difficulties in dealing with my first host family. I think they hardly understood how it should have been to place a foreign person in a family. Obviously, their children were not happy to see me, and one of the girls played dirty tricks on me, touched my stuff, and broke into my room without knocking on the door. The parents were far from having sincere hospitality as well. As a result, I felt really uncomfortable in that house. By the way, it was too far from the centre and the school.

Next is about classes. Comparing with my first time in Inlingua, this time seemed like we spent a lot of time in vain, discussing absolutely unnecessary things. I got much less knowledge for sure. I would not say that a speaking lesson should be an idle talk. Besides, during the one month, we did not get any tests and homework, which were desirable rather than compulsory. It was also very difficult to get used to having a rotation of teachers every three days. I found it stressful and useless for me, because a student should at least have the privilege of teachers who are compatible with him / her. I would mark my preferable teachers - Phill, Marc and Mark :)

Thank you!

"My experiences: Language Courses, the Guide in Edinburgh, Excursion in the school, Excursion in the Bridges and the Distillery…"

Pavel Čípek

The classes were very good. The teachers were excellent, with very good experiences of life, history, and policies.

Location: Optimal
Facilities: Very good
Activities: Very good
Housing: Excellent - the food and communication were are also very good. Madam Harryet was very nice.

The prices of the excursions (except for the distillery) were high.

"Enriching in many ways: culturally, friendly, linguistically"

Carole LEFEVRE

I had no idea of what Inlingua Edinburgh would be as an English school. To be honest, it was part of my mobility programme so I did not choose it.

What I found out was that it was not only a place to learn, but also a place to immerse into the Scottish culture. It was a place to visit the city and museums with the well-cultured Marc, to challenge my beer skills with the entertaining Tim, to taste the best whiskey in the world with the sweet Suzie (member of the Scottish whisky society, and to enjoy the Ceilidh dance, in the church-shaped pub Ghillie Dhu.

As a result, the attractive activities combined with great classes made for the best way to learn and understand English!

If I have had to choose, I would have chosen Inlingua Edinburgh without any hesitation!

"It was a combination of improving my language, and having a life experience."

Justyna Skoczek

I met very good teachers in Edinburgh. During my one-week stay, I met three of them. Each was completely different from one another. They had interesting personalities, which is what I found most important. I learned a lot, and also visited the Fringe, Bookfestival. (I bought many very good books, and had the rare pleasure of meeting some authors.)The Director of Inlingua Edinburgh even offered me an instrument so I could practice. (I am a busy pianist; one of the conditions of my stay in Edinburgh was to have a place where I could play the piano.) My host was great. She gave me not only food and the roof over my head, but also friendship and knowledge of a rare kind. I felt extremely safe and comfortable. The spirit of Edinbugh stays with me all the time. I miss the people and the city very much. Thank you!
