TLA-The Language Academy is one of America's most accredited schools and is internationally renowned for academic excellence and superior customer service.
Since 2012, every year TLA has been nominated for the ST STAR AWARD ENGLISH SCHOOL NORTH AMERICA.
The school is located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, in a prestigious building within the Museum of Modern Art Plaza. "The best choice in my vacation"

Having studying in The Language Academy has made me more confident and able to speak English.
The school have great teachers and during four hours a day, or more, you can practice your English being warned to use the correct grammar language.
I have studied for six weeks in Fort Lauderdale and was a unforgettable experience.

In my opinion the one problem was the book. It is used in class, but sometimes not even the teachers like to use it because it has strange exercises. I received the workbook, however the student book is used only in class. We can't bring it with us.

Would be important we receive the student book to study the grammar at home during the course.

Visa support

We cannot apply for visas on behalf of students. However, the school can supply you with all the documentation you need to support your visa application.

If you are studying full time in the United States for more than 18 hours per week, you will receive an I-20 that you need to submit to the US embassy along with your F-1 student visa application. The I-20 has a SEVIS tracking number on it. Students who wish to apply for a student visa must pay the SEVIS fee online before going to the US embassy or consulate for their visa interview.

Your I-20 will be sent to your home address by regular mail at no charge to you. If you wish to receive your paperwork by express mail, you will be charged $200 when you register.

Please note that United States law states that an I-20 can only be issued to students who intend to pursue full-time English language studies. United States law does not permit students to study part-time with an F-1 Student Visa. If you are studying for less than 18 hours per week, you have to apply for a Visitor Visa (B1/B2) on your own.

Flights and airport transfer

The school offers airport pickup services. If you wish to be picked up, just give us your flight details and arrival date. The price of a one-way airport transfer from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is $190. You must book your airport transfer in advance when you register.

"What are the requirements for the IELTS preparation course?"

The required level for IELTS preparation is B2. The admissions officer will send you a pre-test. However only the official test taken upon arrival will be considered for admission purposes.

"What is the TOEFL preparation course and can those new to the English language enrol?"

If the student has never learned English, the TOEFL preparation course would not be suitable. The TOEFL (*T*est *O*f *E*nglish as a *F*oreign *L*anguage) is an exam that students take to prove that they have the language proficiency to attend college, University or a job where English proficiency is required. A student new to English can instead be enrolled in a General English course at an A1 elementary level and progress through B2. This would typically take 6 months.

"The student's level is "Total beginner, never learned language before" and is below the minimum required level of "Intermediate" required to join the course below. Can you make an exception and accept our student into the program? Alternatively, do you have a placement test that we can ask the student to fill out to accurately determine the student's level?"

The only test that will hold any validity for placement is the Michigan University they take on their first day. Attached is a preliminary test that she may take. However, it will not hold any official validity for admission to the course, for the speaking and listening comprehension components are not being assessed. The test will only be scored once we receive a formal application.
